Filippo is a virtuoso diatonic accordionist from the beautiful city of Genoa, Italy. He creates his own music inspired by both balfolk and other musical traditions. In addition to European folk, he has also embraced Brazilian choro and delved into specific styles such as Irish music, playing the B/C diatonic accordion. Thanks to his unique style and his ability to blend tradition with innovation, Filippo is a leading accordionist in the folk scene. He has collaborated with renowned artists such as Riccardo Tesi, Nuala Kennedy, Jean Michel Veillon, and Emilyn Stam, and was a member of the Liguriani. Currently, he performs with the Maestrale Trio and the duo Choropo. You may have already seen him on the stages of numerous balfolk festivals such as Cadansa, Etétrad, Dafodil, the Rudolstadt Festival, and Les Basaltiques. With his album Otto Baffi, he won the Loano Award for “Best Italian Folk Album.”
Anouk began playing the violin at the age of four using the Suzuki method and quickly specialized in both folk and jazz music. She studied jazz violin and completed the Master’s program in Jazz & Light Music at the ArtEZ Conservatory in Arnhem (Netherlands), also participating in an Erasmus+ program at the Centre de Musique de Didier Lockwood (CMDL) in France. She further delved into the world of Roma music, culture, and tradition through a two-year research project. Currently, Anouk is active in several ensembles: Motyk, Broes, Ghent Folk Violin Project, Duo De Schepper-Sanczuk, Room13orchestra, and Bamako Express. In addition, she has attended various masterclasses in Romania, Greece, and Bulgaria, and teaches folk violin at the academies of Genk, Torhout, and Ypres.
